OK, first update in a while, here we go...

Firstly, we have about $1k saved up and another $1.5k coming when the car gets picked up in a few weeks.

My old 100G setup will be sold to Brian and Angel in Pensacola as soon as I get my skimmer off of it, and get all the livestock and rock into the new aquarium. I'm guessing this'll be in a month or so.

I picked up a 55G for possible use as a refuge, and I'm having a 20G drilled in the short side for possible use as a refuge. I would obviously rather use the 55G for a refuge, but cramming two 4' tanks underneath would probably prove impossible..... I'll have to lay out all the tanks/equipment and see what room I'll have to play with, in a few weeks when the stand is built.

And lastly, THANK YOU Shawn for providing my sump, a Ocea 75G, (no centerbrace, yay!). For a mere $50, I got this from Shawn... all it needed was a little TLC... recaulked all corners, and I removed the corner overflow and bulkheads. I used part of one of the overflow sides to cover the bulkhead holes. I'm gonna let this cure for a week or so, and fill it with water to make sure.

Welp, I'm now $500 poorer heheh... put a down payment on the 240G. The tank will be here on the 22nd.

Awesome deal.. that is going to be a monster.. keep us poor folks updated with pictures.

Yipee...........I KNOW how excited you are......before too long, $500 will seem like pocket change!

OK, I installed a 30 amp circuit today.... it's wired into two 15 amp GFCI outlets, on the wall just behind where the tank will sit.

did you use that steak knife in the picture to cut your sheet rock hole


nice handy work... I recently added a ground fault recepticle behind my tank also... Now working on adding another 20 amp breaker....same ones...small double Square D type...


Then maybe I can make toast and run my halides at the same time

Hehehehe, yep I sure did, I included that in the picture, thought that would be funny Hey, they're supposed to stay sharp forever!!!

Here's the preliminary stand design:

Welp, here it is! It's BEEFY... and LOTS of room underneath!!

The bottom is kinda weird, but it's part of the design...
Firstly, the bottom of the stand goes to teh wall, whereas
the actual support for the tank is 6" away from the wall, for
the plumbing and electricity. The 75G sump is gonna sit
in the part of the stand w/ no cross bracing, right on the
floor... the end that's closest to the wall will have the mag24's,
piping goes straight up between the wall and the tank. The
part of the stand with the cross bracing is for the 55G refuge,
it sits a little higher than the 75, so it can gravity drain through
a bulkhead in the short side of the 55G, back into the 75G sump.

How does that crown molding and chair rail factor into the design? Will you have to cut that? Are you going to make the stand and canopy match the wall (made from sheetrock with the crown molding at the floor)? Just curious.
