Always remember to get the seaweed out after approx 8 hours for green, 4 hours for brown, and 2 hours for red seaweeds. If you dont, they begin to decompose, making quite a bit of phosphate and ammonia in the process. Also, blue tangs are strongly planktivorous--they do not need nearly as much algae as other tangs. Rather, they need plenty of meaty, high protein/moderate fat planktivorous foods like mysis shrimp. The tiny ones probably need to be fed at least once or twice per day to maintain weight and to keep up with metabolism. A mix of other foods on a frequent basis helps also. This is one more reason why I DONT recommend the little ones.

Thanks for the tips and info. I'll start feeding every other day instead of every day. As far as the algae on a clip, I don't have to worry about that right now b/c the yellow tang just went to the big aquarium in the sky!
Another possible problem could be that I did leave some green kale on a clip in the tank for more than 8 hours (approximately a week). I guess you live and learn. However, it does hurt the pocket book by going this route.
Once I upgrade my skimmer, then I might retry a tang.

Hi;
I know every fish is different but I put a little bit of seaweed on the clip at a time and it is all eaten in a matter of minutes. I do that a couple of times a day usually.

There are no problems; only solutions.
