Hmmmm this was were I was going with the Chocolate chip starfish statement by the way. I had just heard they were not reef safe, not that we have ever had one.

Chocolate Chip Starfish - Protoreastor nodosus
Omnivore, like to eat filter feed (invert food, brine shrimp, micro-plankton) a few times per week, when open.. The Protoreastor nodosus is generally peaceful toward other tankmates. Many consider the Protoreastor nodosus a low-maintenance specimen. Not venomous. Algae eater. Needs places to hide. Be careful with copper-based medication and extreme nitrate levels. Do not expose to air. Can reproduce from a snippet of my arm. Not compatible with triggers. Chocolate Chip Star. They are distinguished by having dull spines, bumps or knobbles on their dorsal surfaces, with these often seen in colors that contrast with their overall body pigmentation. Sold under names like Red-Knobbed, Chocolate Chip, and other labels, these species are hardy but aggressive feeders, more than happy to mount and consume sessile clams, oysters and all manner of corals, soft and stony. Keep water quality high (SG 1.023 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).

PLEASE don't chop it up... I have a 1/2 bare tank, with plenty of room to host him.

You guys are gonna give me a heart attack...... BUT, it's your coral :) I just want to let you know that I'm not above begging for it, and wanted to give you guys an option other than "lets chop it up because it's too big otherwise".

About my starfish,....I know you say it is suppose to eat corals but it's never eaten any of my other corals at all the whole time I've had it. This is the only coral it's ever eaten and now that it's gone, he's back to the same thing...just hangin out on the glass and bottom. He's not hurting a thing now. :o AHHHH!!! I guess I gotta lot to learn yet!!!!

By no way was I fussing, it was just something that I had heard about those particular starfish- please don't be offended. I just wanted to back up what I thought I had heard with some written fact. I think they are cool little guys, I just hope it doesn't eat anything else I am with Scott the Xenia will probably grow back.

Oh, no way Amyjoe, I was not offended at all. I was just suggesting that maybe my starfish is just pedjudice against xenia. I don't know why sometimes these little critters we put in our tanks go renagade and do stuff their not suppose to do, but I guess they are all different singly. Next thing you know someone will be saying that their Xenia is eating their starfish!

Yep... it will probably be Scott saying that the Xenia and Mushrooms have left their rocks and are corralling the SPS's to the end of the tank.....

Maybe you and Jason can do a blues brothers skit at the next meeting singing that. You got any chicken wire, things might get rowdy. 8)
