No but I definitely have a cotton candy milli. Sue has seen it and said she likes it and highly recommends it.

Oh come on, you can figure that out.

I wrote something really nasty and thought differently, sorry for any that read it.

I lived in Maryland when I was young, there they just called it "soda". I'm ok with that.

And the cotton candy milli is definately sweet. I don't mind shortening the name, especially around those who know what you're talking about, such as Acro or Milli or Monti. But it gets a little ridiculous sometimes.

I think I'll call that green/yellow millipora......."green lantern"

BUT...if they get to the Barbie and Ken corals, I'm outta here.

I didn't take it in a bad way. I'm just saying is the english we speak in the states proper? Otherwise I agree with you. (Just don't hold it against me that I typically can not spell!)

Soda it is for me as well Sue. I'm not sure where those crazy folks came up with "Pop".

Back to coral. There are just so many out there that have odd colors or color morphs that to just call it a Blue Millepora would become confusing. Just imagin trying to find a specific Zoanthid that you want just by saying it is green and purple. Put the Purple People Eater on it and bam you have instantly identified it based off of what some clown named it.

No but I think in MS and ALA we have more problems than many states. Plus the names the babies are getting these days are horrible. Who in the hell names there kids after venereal diseases ?

*chuckling*

At least they're keeping it to superheroes....although I saw super boy and supergirl Montipora last night. I really do want to know why no one has named a green coral after the green lantern, at least he wasn't blue and red. Hmmm, It seems they've even named one, a Montipora I think....the Hulk.. But I draw the line at "Barbies corvette Pink Monti" Or "Ken's groovy alien eye Chalice" :? :P

I understand the confusion thing. But remember then you had people saying theirs was the "real" purple people eaters......and now you have different people selling 2 different color Milliporas as "cotton candy" or "Bubblegum" . I guess it never ends. Oh well, I don't think it hurts to bitch about it all occasionally.

And casey, This is not pissed off...more like exasperated. :) I get nasty when I'm pissed off. :P

Hey.....wait a minute. I got sidetracked, but Drew got me thinking. Let's see, if I'm correct, people started naming these corals so that hopefully when the word got out everyone would know that particular coral in that person's tank and would be able to get a frag of it. (For a little more money, of course) So with the PPE's and even "Superman" you knew who it came from. Then you had the "superman" Digitata....which kind of screwed that idea up. That was just a digitata that was purple/blue with red polyps. They did this with other corals too, naturally.....
So what is the point of a seller naming an A/C or any coral, if it's going to be sold, and can you really name "every" pink Millipora a bubblegum or Cotton candy? Yeah, I know they are pink...I've seen them. But if you're smart, you post a pic of it. Does it really need a name? I'm not going to buy a particular coral because someone calls it a cute name. I'm going to buy it because they posted a pic of it and I like it.
I guess I'll just label it a "retail gimmick" and go on with it. But I always reserve the right to be a little cynical about it.

So lets say I have this insane acro frag that no one has seen before. I just post a picture of it and word gets out. My guess is that it will be called the Rollman Tort or something like that. People will want to associate it with where it came from and if I was the one it originated from then they will probably associate it with my name. Thats assuming they don't get a frag and come up with a name for themselves so they can make a lot of money. What I'm getting at is that they won't just want any neon pink tort..... they want the Rollman tort so they know it is legit.

Nope, I couldn't figure it out. I can't believe it was just the forum slang or sentence construction. It must have been a long day. I am still completely missing Snoops point. Somebody is going to have to enlighten me.
