T5 Lighting
Moderator: snoopdog
I'll tell you what, I got mine DE/T5 fixture when people were still saying "no, only use VHO. Those things are just another fad"
I've been a big fan of t5's ever since. They put out an amazing amount of light for the size, I only wish I had gotten 4 bulbs instead of two in my fixture. Two gives plenty of actinic color, but still.......
I'm seriously considering putting a couple of them with the 260W. PC fixture I have on my Freshwater plant tank......

For those interested in the T's, they come in 2',3',4'. I have 4'-4 bulb hoods that can be mounted or suspended(comes with hanging bracket)$225.
Also have 2 bulb retro fixture $139.99... and 2 bulb retros with individual reflectors$129.99.
All parts can be purchased seperatly(endcap, mounts, ballast, reflectors)

When you mean fixture, does that mean plastic enclosure, fans etc.... ? I am confused on this. Great prices though, what size was this one you just quoted.AQUAMAN wrote:For those interested in the T's, they come in 2',3',4'. The t5's I have don't have fans...don't really need'em. The fixture is metal with hanging bracket..two switches and one wire with pug, and the 2 bulb retro fixture is kinda like a shop light..it is real neat only has one wire..just plug it in.
Scott, I have 2' retro's..one ballast runs 2 bulbs...so you would need 2 kits.I think they were$129/each..I can check tom. when at shop. I can check on a ballast to run 4 if ya want?

Hey Rich
I have 2 workhorse 5 and 1 workhorse 3 ballast. I am needing some lighting (T5 or PC) for a 20 gal softy tank. What would you recomend me using (cheepest way to go)? What are you wanting for bulbs endcaps and reflectors for a 2' tank. Also how many bulbs would I need to put on the tank to get good color.
