I think you just found the problem.. your source water. RO/Di filters are not that expensive, just do a search on ebay, they can be found for $100 or less.

I agree... RO/DI water is a must! Your PO4 is probably really high!

Hair Algae

Hi:

I have hair algae to although I am getting it under control. Really the best way mechanically to get it down is water changes. I do at least one a week until I get the nitrates where I want them which is definitely below 20ppm. Really as close to 0 as possible.
As far as fish are concerned all the above suggestions are good. Rabbitfish and Kole Tangs are the best though.

Yes but it is a 4 stage with double di added on. When I replace my cartidges I may only go with 2 di's.
