Sat would be good for me if I can go. I don't know just yet. Would it be scuba or snorkling? Also about what time would it be?

Is night time best? Im going to Ft. Pickens next weekend and I was wondering what the best time to go looking for critters is. I want some peppermint shrimp and anything else that would be reefsafe.

We will just be wading around, I guess around 8:30 or 9:00pm.

I had no idea peppermint shrimp were local. Is there nothing saying you cannot pull them out of the water and take them ? Exactly where do you go and how easy is it to catch them ?

One of my buddies called me last week and told me there was a jubilee going on in the bay. Well we missed it but he called again tonite and said there was another one over the weekend. He thinks one might happen sometime this week. Has anyone ever been to one? We caught the end of one last year and I must say it was AWESOME!!! Every type of marine life you could imagine was literally crawling or swimming out of the water. We got SEVERAL nice flounders and buckets full of crabs. There were all kinds of shrimp, ribbon fish/eels, needle fish, and several other things that could have been caught very easily. If one happens is anyone willing to go?

They are catching them a the west pass in Gulf Shores.
A slurp gun would probably be ideal, or some DIY
contraption of similar operation. Shrimp traps made
out of 20 oz. plastic drink bottles will work too. You just
walk along the jetties, looking in between the two walls
with a powerful flashlight or divers light for signs of
life.

There have been no less than 7 jubilees in the past 2 weeks.
We are always looking to get in on one. The past 7 have
been greatly flounder. Some people are getting WELL over
100 flounder a night.

It has been awhile but I used to live like 1/2 block from the bay on Fels.. spent many a night and morning playing in bay floundering and getting in on Jubilees... absolutely one of the most amazing things to see. Really weird at the same time- good eats though...

If you want to PM me a number you
can be reached, at ANY HOUR of the
night, I would be glad to call you in
the event of a Jubilee. Please remember
this, most of the time people forget to
call me in the excitement of it all, so if
you hear of one we missed it's because
I was not notified. People get forgetful
when the adrenaline starts pumping. We
are always down for JUBILEE'S.
