Jason, why did you want a pipe fish for the refug? Do they do anything special or is just a cool fish?

Yeah, updates!
The largest puffer you gave Jeff now resides in my refuge... he's *so cute*... and he's a GOOD hider!!! he'll sit on the bottom, and change colors to match the rock/sand, and he's TOUGH to find when he does that.

I was digging around in my refuge trying to find that sea urchin last night so I could put him out in the backyard before he completely eats up all of my macro algae up and I saw the larger pipefish swimming around. He look like he is doing great. Anybody want me to bring them a sea urchin to the meeting tomorrow?

I've already got 2, but I'd like another one if nobody else speaks up... just bring it! I want 1 in each tank.
I really hate to admit this, but here it goes: The stripped burrfish you gave me is now in my reef tank! I moved him from the fish only to the refugium first because my wife said she would kill me if it ate her shrimp. I think she was serious, so out he went. I didn't want to keep him in the 10g refugium so last night I moved him into the reef. I don't have much in there that he will eat except some cleaner shrimp & freeloading snails. The shrimp are too big right now to be a meal and the snails piggy backed on the rock and multiply too fast to be wiped out. I am worried about some baby scutus though. I'm going to watch him really close to make sure my corals aren't chewed on. Eventually I'll have to give him up before he is big enough to eat the scutus and shrimp. I'm looking for a GOOD home for him... he's got a ton of personality like a dog so I'm having a hard time giving him up. If you have a fish only system and want a very personable fish let me know. It has to be a well established tank though. He's even "puffed" up in the tank before!

hmmm i wonder if he would be good in my no-corals yet reef thats just getting done cycling.....I could set him up in his own little 20-30g sometime soon. Would be AWESOME for my computer room! As long as he wouldnt clash with the damsel I have...I have enough LR for the hermits to get away from him..the snails congregate around the powerhead at top of the tank and in the LR caves.

You just need to get another tank to keep him in. Is he eating now? I'll try to bring the urchin if I can find him. I tried to find him last night with no luck.

Hey Jason if you can get me a couple of those pipefish next time out I'm sure I could contribute to your dive fund.

I'm not sure when i'm going to go again but you can get those yourself. They are at the west pass(lagoon pass) on the east side. Walk towards the bay to where the grass comes out to the water and start looking. They will be in the edge of the water near the bank. You can reach down an pick them up with your hand. If you have a fish net like you use in your tank would probably help.
