If anyone wants my pistol shrimp, Alan may bring it to the meeting.

does it come out so you can see it. I have some in my tank but have never seen them. I just hear the clicking. I wouldn't mind haveing one if they would come out in the open so you could watch them.

The basically make there burrow where they want to. Sometimes you get lucky and they will make one in the front of the tank. Since Amy is sick i will not be attending the meeting. Alan is bringing the shrimp over today so after that he is fair game to anyone that wants to pick him up.

You probably have a Mantis not a pistol. Pistol's make havoc on your sandbed and burrow. You will always know you have a pistol when your corals on the sandbed get sand on them and your rock shifts by itself from being undermined. A mantis on the other hand does not "pop" as loud as a pistol shrimp does and lives in the rockwork. Pistols only go in the rockwork when there is no sand to burrow in. Mantis are much faster than a pistol in terms of hiding from you and very intelligent. I had 3 mantis in my 75 gallon and it took 4 years to catch them all because they hid from my view that long.

Cancel that on the shrimp. Allen(sp) brought him by and after talking to him i decided to revise the tank to house him. I am going to take the southdown out of the 5 gallon and replace it with either large grained aragonite or maybe crushed coral.

awww...you like him. I'm getting all stuffed up. Either I'm way too emotional or I got Amy's cold.

Well lets not get too stuffed up. Came back to see the shrimp hanging out of the gobies mouth. I give up.

After waking up i see that it was not the shrimp hanging out of it's mouth but instead his "popping" claw only. The shrimp had dug a burrow and they were paired up. Hopefully he will molt soon and regain it. I can tell this substrate is perfect because he has completely dug a burrow and the tank was still clean.
