Can you post the method that you used to cycle and transfer tanks? I am curious of the shole process but in particular how long you let the tank run before adding the livestock.

Thanks,
Scott

I wish I could say I made a bunch of provisions for the transfer and cycled the new tank for weeks and such, but it just did not happen that way.

I filled the new tank with RO/DI added seven bags of FIJI Pink AragAlive. Matched water temperature, alkalinity, calcium and pH and added about 80 pounds of live rock that had been curing at LFS (Aquaria) for about 6 weeks. I also added about 5 pounds of my sand.

I let all of this sit for one week. I added Seachem Stability to the new tank per botte directions.

After one week on October 9, I removed all corals from rocks in old tank and placed them on 80 pounds of new rock temporarily. I then removed all of the rock from old tank and scrubbed/rinsed in new water in tubs. I then put i in new tank. I caught the fish as I could and added them to new tank. Once everything was in I salvaged as much snails, crabs, etc.. from the old tank and threw them in. I got rid of my old sand. It was too fine.

I used Stability per bottle directions for two more weeks.

I lost zero corals, none of my six shrimp, and only one fish in the move out of 16. The corals are exhibiting lots of new growth already. The tank back and overflows are about 40% covered in coralline algae at this time. I still have not glued the corals down.

I am pleased with the success of the move. I stressed about it for a while until I talked to some of the guys on reef central. They said just do what I did and it will be alright. The only thing they suggested that I did not do was to do a 50% water change in the old aquarium and put the old water in the new aquarium. I di a little but not that much.

I tried to add a few fish to the tank about ten days ago and have had a massive breakout of Ick and Brookynella that has killed several nice fish. I have never faced either parasite before. I do not know where it came from. I will be waiting until after Christmas to add more fish.

I will be ordering corals when I find some I like. Anybody interested in a group order maybe this week?

This tank is even better in person. The stand and canopy is everything I would want. Better then any standard setup.

So I take it your tank is doing better? Or at least stabilized? I'm going to make a trip over there soon, I'm working 7 days a week just to try and get caught up but since that's not gonna happen  I'm just going to take a day. Need to bring those frags and see the tank. And I need to bring some stuff to Dave.

unfortionatly he is still having fish problems. His coral look great though. When they fill in it will be an amazing tank. Well its amazing now but in time full of acros it will look even better.

I feel bad for those little frags. Its just that i don't have a grow out tank and when i break stuff its best to get it out into another tank or it will be lost in mine.

As Drew said, I have no problem with corals, only fish. They have been decimated. I am amazed the 5 or 6 have survived.

All of the corals look great. I am looking forward to the frags.

I also would like to make a frag order to one of the online shops/individuals if I can get some folks together.

let me know which place. I might be able to find 1 thing... haha.

btw I cut back my return and it has already made a huge difference in my skimmer. I have the skimmer running really wet right now but in 2 days I filled the cup up almost twice. It might have had a little to do with the addatives i put in as well but with the decreased water flow throught the sump it looks like i'll get a lot more gunk out.

I also made some 2 part and i think the water is near the level I want to keep it.

I know someone that may want to buy it at your asking price. I'll check with him tomorrow and let you know.
