Looking for 48" Twin Tube Fluorescent

Post by neverendingninja »

Hey guys, I just found this place on Google while searching for a local fish club. I actually keep a 55 gallon freshwater community, but figured I'd ask here in case anyone had something laying around in the attic.

I need to hit somewhere between 1 and 2 watts per gallon for my plants, and a 40w x 2 setup would get me right in the middle. I purchased one off ebay, but it was a total rip and the guy won't refund me. Anyway, if anyone has something, just shoot me a PM or an email at neverendingninja(at)gmail.com

Thanks!

P.S. I'm located in Fairhope

Even for lower light tanks, I would shoot for at least 2 watts per gallon. I think you'd get better results around that mark. It is the 3 wpg mark you don't really want to surpass (because in most cases, beyond that, you need supplemental co2). This is a relatively bad measure, though, especially for newer high intensity lighting sources available today.

Yeah, I've looked into the new T6 fixtures, which would get me at 1.96WPG, but didn't think anyone would be getting rid of one yet since they're relatively new.

Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it.

P.S. I know this isn't the right board, but since I have a topic going, does anyone know of a local freshwater group?

While this site is primarily saltwater, we discuss freshwater stuff all the time, especially planted tanks (namely myself and sb1227, but there are plenty of others, as well). This is a "relaxed" message board, so pretty much anything goes, so feel free to ask away about freshwater or marine. It is no problem at all. That being said, I am unaware of any local FW groups--sorry.
