Post by JIM »

This would only happon to me I was super glueing down a few
small coral frags and a small amount hit the top of the tank water
after cleaning up my mess I was enjoying a cold one when I
noticed my sail fin tang had a white thing in its face and hes
mouth was glued shut.I did end up catching him and removing the
glue.I just wanted to share.....

Been there, done that :? Couldn't catch him, but he made it through fine. That's why I glue all frags away from the tank now.

I was trying to use regular super glue (not gel) once and had one drop fall into the water. It spread over the top and into the overflows before I would do a thing. I spent a while scraping it off the strainers and was just lucky that no fish wanted to investigate. I did find out that if you only have regular glue you can get a cup of tank water and put a few drops in there and it will stay on the surface. If you take the frag and dip and twist it in the cup it gets all the glue so you can mount it.

My clown likes to nip at anything as you put it into the tank, superglue or not. I glued alot of Devil's hand last week and she glued her lips shut for a few hours. She recovered though.

Just went through it myself, now I dip in a separate dish first.

I have not had that happen to any of my fish before, but I will make a note avoid it from happening.

I read somewhere that a guy was gluing some frags and put the cap in his mouth and glued his lips to it.

Isn't it wierd how bad you freak out from this??? It kinda reminds me of when a jolly rancher just starts to get soft enough to where you can bite it, then you do and totally freak out because your mouth is stuck shut. I LOVE IT. Nothing like peeling the battle wounds off days later (super glue skin).

Recently, I was glueing Zoa's to a shell and got a bunch of glue stuck to my fingertips, so I (durrrrr) took a papertowel to quickly wipe the glue off and managed to stick two fingers together and wound up with a bunch of papertowel glued to them as well...

I had to use an emery board to sand off the papertowel.

I've always used a separate dish though with some wax paper underneath - it's not waterproof, but it works.

if you glue your fingers together you can soak it in fingernail polish remover. it will unstick them
