Went to Ft. Pickens tonight

Post by danielmiller82 »

It was really rough out there tonight. I didnt get to go out any deeper than ~3 feet deep cause the waves were pushing me around quite a bit. I did bring home some buddies though.

Can you guys help me ID these?

There were bunches of these...from the top of the water they look blue/green when they are happy, the stripes are black. I doubt they are pinfish cause of the missing spot...they almost look like some sort of damselfish

The second from the last I think are nassarius snails. I caught quite a few of them in the bay awhile back and they are identical to the ones I paid $1 each for!!

I went ahead and stuck him in the 10g...i got everything outta there that means anything to me(cept for the red macro and a large feather duster worm) Those guys are EVERYWHERE in the jetties and are EXTREMELY easy to catch. I caught one that was about 1/3" long. Tiny guy. They seem to school a little in the jetties...do you think I could catch 5 or 6 of them and put them in a 20g? with another couple of blennys and gobies?

I have about 12 of those big snails in my fish only and reef tank. They do fine and don't bother anything. They love Nori! :D

Our kids took some of the big guys to Rick's in LA and he said they won't hurt the reef but will kill other snails in the tank. Anyone hear anything like that before? I have some of them in my sump, fearful to put them in the tank. :?

All my snails live in harmony together. I have a ton of them together. No problems here.
