Scott, what kind of fixture do you use with that bulb? Need a ballast?

My lightbulb lasted about 8-9 months the first time. It's been about 6 months on the second bulb and still going.

No doubt it's alot of light for the $$, but the life is short. I'd like to see how much Scott's recommendation cost. It's the same light output and the heat should be the same (65watt ~ 75watt). There may be a slight differece in heat generation based on efficiency differences, but I'd think it would be minimal.

One last thought... the LOA will fit perfectly on a 12" (13") width tank. Josh has a 55g sump so it's a nice fit. I've put mine on a 29g and it also fits nicely. Basically anything between a 20g - 55g (except breeders) would be a natural fit for the LOA.

I got the bulb at HD. The bulb was less than $10. I got a single socket, and wall mount for a flood light on the electrical aisle for a couple more dollars.
Wanted: to set up a tank again.

Scott that sounds a little more in my price range. Does your bulb have a lot of groth in the algae. I guess it must for you to continue to use it.

Good find Scott! Might have to try one of those out myself. Does the filament have 6500k on it, or is it "potluck".
