How many hours a day do you run your metal halides?

Post by Brandon »

I'm upping the amount of time I leave my halides on.
I started way back at 5 hours a day w/ 12 hours for the VHO's. I have 320 Watts VHO and 750 for Halides. I'm adding another 220 (2x4') watts vho's this week also. Wondering how many hours I should take the halides to in the end.
I think I'm at 6.5 hours a day now.

Ten Hours for me. IMHO, eight hours for halides should be a minimum for light-loving sps corals, in order to get the best coloration. As far as other corals are concerned, you can get away with much less.

I am running mine for 6 hours a day now. I plan on upping it to about 8. With Iwasaki's I've read that over 8 could be too much and cause problems.
Wanted: to set up a tank again.
