reverse osmosis / deionizer system

Post by Dys »

I am looking to buy a reverse osmosis / deionizer system and would like to get some recommendations, hopefully for more inexpensive units as I would like to keep to some budget... oh what budget!

Any suggestions, opinions would be apprecaited.

If anyone has a used unit they are getting rid of I might also be interested in that.

Thanks
I'll respect you in the morning, but I won't wake up till noon.

I got one off e-bay from HB Water Systems. It is a 4 stage RO/DI with clear canisters. It is 75 gpd. I had them add the auto shut off and it was around $130 shipped.

I use their standard "Typhoon" model, and love it. The refills are decently priced too.

Ditto that. Good guy that runs the joint too. A call to him might get you a free TDS meter with your order.

Dual Home/Reef..... You won't ever drink regular tap water again.

I plumbed in my typhoon by T'ing off after the third canister (the 2nd carbon), and feeding my refrigerator's water supply with it... instant awesome drinking water! It was convenient, since my RO/DI resides under the kitchen sink anyway.

Mine is in the garage, kinda where i wanted it. But the water out here where we moved smells and taste like something out of a swimming pool. We might get a small RO just for tap water later, install under the sink.

We have birds and supposedly chlorine is bad for them, so we use it for their drinking water also. We were using bottled water for them before. The 3 gallon tank makes it nice also for quick topoff if your water level is running low or something.

I have that 3 gallon tank too, yes it is nice to have, even better in an elevated position.

RO System

Post by Dys »

Ok... after everyones recommendations and such I decided to look at those and then take a look at ebay just to see what compared to ones such as the Typhoon and the reef/home dual use....

I came up with
brand new....
75 GPD 6 Stage Reverse Osmosis Water System with De-Ionized unit
also comes with 4gal tank

Stages (filters) are:
1 50 micron sediment prefilter
2 10 micron active carbon
3 1 micron sediment prefilter
4 TFE up to 99% rejection
5 De-Ionizer
6 Carbon Block

All filters are standard.
Full price after shipping, insurance etc... will be $105

The ebay seller had a 99.3% feedback with 1591 total feedbacl left, with 710 positive, and 10 negative (3 of which were 1 person complaining he doesnt accept paypal) in past 6 months.

RO

Post by Dys »

They didnt offer any other shipping methods or I would have prob gone for 2 day... but the system does come with the following... as per description

This system is a complete system ready to be installed. INCLUDES:
RO unit with All 6 filters (ALL FILTERS ARE STANDARD SIZES)
Feed water adapter valve which connects to cold water supply under the sink
Drain saddle.
Chrome Long Reach Faucet
Auto Shutoff saves water when filter is off
Check Valve protects the membrane
4.4 Gallon Tank (4 gallon usable)
All necessary tubing.
Installation manual

Yeah I didnt think it was bad at all for $105 shipped. literally got in on it with like 30 seconds left in auction.
