hello all need advice

i need a new ph probe all the pinpoint ones i can find are about 45 bucks
but i have seen one for 20 bucks not pinpoint ....has anyone used an off brand before and did it work well

I've had better luck with Milwakee stuff, but I'm not sure what they cost. They just seem more consistant to me. But I don't use a PH probe on the reef tank, just a planted tank with CO2.

I use Milwaukee Instruments, as well. Really, any of them work reasonably well if you calibrate them on a regular basis (bad about that myself). Some can be slower in registering and stabilizing a reading as well as accuracy drifting and drift frequency, etc. But like I said, if you calibrate often, you can stay on top of most of that.

I hear you, Sue :lol: . I am right there with you *sigh*. Not only that, it went by slowly, as well (at least for me).
