The reoccuring money dump, buying snails.

Post by snoopdog »

After i guess 7 years in the hobby ( i think that is right) i have bought more snails than i care to admit. I am sure probably around 300 or so total. Of those 300 or so i have one left. And this one species is new to me so i have no idea what it is. The only snails i ever had spawn was one i did not purchase, and of course those are spawning so fast i have about 50 and only picked up 4 from Elizabeth. The total number is probably more around 75-100 because i just cannot see all of them. So how many more people have purchased an unreal amount of snails ?

I have probably bought that many snails in the past 3 years. I only have turbos, a coulple of stombus snails and a few of the snails from Liz left now. I don't think Liz's snails are reproducing in my tank.
Wanted: to set up a tank again.

I just moved 2 of them to my 5 gallon tank, there are already eggs on the glass.

What are you doing, playing Barry White and dimming the lights? I only see mine decline and have never seen any eggs on the glass.

Just come over mine or Mike's, or get some from Mike at the next meeting.

She is one of the founders of this club and has been missing in action for a while....I think she traded her fish for horses.

I have only bought two snails (to try to clean my brackish water tank--which I guess they didn't like cause they died within a week). In my fresh water tank...I never bought any.. they hitched a ride along with the plant I bought. I had an out break.... SNAILS EVERYWHERE! On the glass... in the rocks, on the hood, in the filter!!! I got tired of hand picking them out so I bought a Yo-Yo Loach and he is doing a good job of keeping the snail numbers down. Maybe in a few months he will have them down to a select few that are smart enough not to stay on the gravel!

I am now trying some of these snails in my sump. I have not had any successfully spawn and live in my display. Does anyone else have any in their sump?
