OH MY GOD.

hats off to that guy for trusting in himself to that extent... that's always the tough part of doing something DIY, is actually trusting yourself to do it.

So, would the whole basement become a 6" tide pool if the main tank didn't hold?

This guy is totally legit... check out his "previous" large tank.... especially check out his most recent gallery... the "star polyp fields", and "overgrown mushrooms" are pretty breathtaking!

Is the surge device the huge acrylic cube with the froth in it?

I think there is a point where it gets just a bit too obsessive...
I have no desire to have to maintain something like that, that would be a full time job.
