Oh, it's not a rice burner thing, guys been running aluminum rodded engines in big motors for long time... a lot of the drag machines (top fuel, etc) still use 'em.Scott wrote:What is an aluminum rodded engine? I am not much of the rice burner type.

Not really expensive at all. I probably have 1/3 of what swagman has in his Neon. The engine is pretty well bullet-proof. It's made to last a while.
My original intention was to lump it with a built-up chevy smallblock, but after learning a bit about the xk engine, and removing the americanized smog-control stuff, I like it a lot.
There are some oddities in the electrical system that are a beast of a different nature. I have had very little electrical trouble, but I cleaned a lot of connections and used dielectric grease when first getting it.
I have had a LOT more electrical trouble from my Nissan 240sx.
I believe the GM400, is mostly limited to the XJ-S. What I have, the series 3 xj6, has a Borg Warner transmission. It's been a really cheap project for a 16 year old car.
I still have a lot left to do, but it is a project afterall.
