Very nice, thats alot of nice SPS corals you have on that list. I have a few questions, what are the mesurements on your DT? Do you have a problem with your tank water getting to hot with those 3 400w lights? How long do you run the MH on your frag tank? How are you liking the Vortechs and where did you buy them from? How long does a CO2 tank last you between fill ups. My last question, lol, are all three tanks tied in together to make one system? Again, very nice, although it looks like you might need to up grade the DT as its getting crowded in there. lol.

Just going to butt in here about the vortechs:
they are super-mega-ultra-fantastically-awesome. I only have one of mine on my new tank and it pushes water at least 6 feet when it's wide open. Virtualy silent. The drivers connect wirelessly so wave motion can be controlled with sync and anti-synch modes off of whichever pump you assign as the master driver. The flow pattern is very wide and uses very little power (35w max at 3,500 gph). If you get one make sure it's a gen 2. The magnets are better epoxied and the driveshaft and propeller are improved on the wetside. My acrylic is 7/8" thick and it still sticks although I do have to remove the pin spacer. You can get them shipped for $375 brand new from saltycritter.com if you email them. Overall, as with anything in reefing, the up front cost is huge but the rewards are highly worth it.

Thanks, and I do have a couple frags of the pink lemonade chalice I will sell for $15 for a small frag of it. As for the other chalice I am still waiting for it to grow out some.

Yeah trying to remember all those names took a while to do and I am sure I left off a few things, but I think the list is long enough. :) I need to get by your place some time to check out your setup.

Thanks,
The measurements on the DT are 72x24x30. It is a standard 225 tall tank. This makes it very hard to reach the bottom of it.

My tank stays around 76-80 degrees. The MH doesn’t phase this setup to much for some reason. I am not currently running a chiller because I don’t think I really need one at this time. I am considering getting ride of the 3 x 400watt MH and go with 8 over driven T-5 bulbs. But I can not spend that much on the tank right now although they would pay for themselves over time.

The frag tank lights I run for 8-9 hours a day.

I think Rory summed up the Vortech pumps. I was considering these or the Tunze pumps and I went with the Vortech’s. I love these pumps. I was running 2 closed loops with Little Giant pumps but one went out on me so I decided to do away with the closed loop pumps. I got them from saltycritter.com If you mention you are a member of Reefcentral then they will sell them for $375 each.

The CO2 tank that is pictured is a backup 20 lb tank. I normally run a 5 lb tank and it will last me 3-6 months. If I could fit that 20 lb tank in the stand I would and just run it and would last me a long time. I am considering getting a 10 lb tank if I could find one at a good price in the future.

Yep all the tanks are tied together in one system.

I don’t mind any questions anyone has to ask. I have been doing this for a while and would be willing to help anyone out that needs it.
Considering I upgraded to this tank not even a year ago my wife would shoot me if I were to upgrade again. LOL

Thank you everyone for the kind words.

Aquarium and corals look great. Lots of ORA corals. I like the big staghorns also. What is an Efflo? I know it is an SPS coral but don't know anything about these.

It's supposed to be Acropora efflorescens.

To me it is kind of a cross between a montipora capricornis (monti cap) and an acropora. It plates like a monti cap but also branches like an acro.

Andy, I have an id for you. I did some research on the orange gold plating coral that you and Rich have in your tanks. I bought the small fragment. Under UV light it flouresces gold. It was looking like it was orange pavona but futher research led to Agaricia, an Atlantic genus that may be orange. I think it is A. lamarki. The corallites are star shaped. It is likely one of the species in this article. Tell Beav if you see him.
