Re: Help
Hmm, never used the Seachem product. I looked at its info page and found the MSDS. Seems like a blend of various chloride salts. I only use anhydrous calcium chloride with a high purity. Depending on the Seachem product's ratios, it likely won't mix to the appropriate concentration with respect to c...

Re: Help
Check anything in the system that could possibly corrode--all magnets, powerheads, etc. While I don't usually recommend large water changes, this sounds like a good exception as a test. Do you have or use any activated carbon or adsorption resin? As far as how the CaCO3 parameters became skewed, hav...

Re: Help
Also, what salt are you currently using and has that been tested/verified when mixed?

Re: Help
Okay, how are you supplementing CaCO3? Reactor, 2 part? Have you done a water change recently? Has anything at all changed recently or any other recent maintenance tasks? I don't see the parameters as immediately problematic, but they should be corrected when possible. Do you do any form of organic ...

Re: Re-imagined 40g build
Watching this build, I'd considered doing the same a little patching reef seagrass surrounding spacely coral colony Thanks for following along. As many issues as this little tank has had, aesthetic-wise, it is a unique, fascinating and beautiful little biotope. Not everybody agrees with me on those...

Re: Re-imagined 40g build
Ha, you're right. Not too many excuses for that one. For the most part, I want slower-growing climax species in this tank. I am looking for some T. hemprichii seeds--saw some on Liveaquaria and they got snatched up before I could do anything. Should look similar to the little patch reefs in the Paci...

Looking forward to the build. As you may be able to tell, I am partial to these tank dimensions

Re: Re-imagined 40g build
New lamps in pics below. Growth has been very nice, considering how in the 4 weeks or so between pics, the tank spent 1 of those in darkness. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z107/Amphiprion_photos/54F797C9-535C-4A83-82C2-A3F6EFDBDB5F_zpssnvf88dx.jpg http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z107/Amphipr...

Re: Re-imagined 40g build
Well, the tank's been through hell and back with dinoflagellates. I started getting them a month or so after setting up this tank, so just under 1.5 years and they became so bad that I was pulling up fistfuls of sludge. I finally got fed up and started breaking the tank down when I thought about a l...

Re: New Guy
Wow, your previous tank was extremely nice! Welcome to the community! You likely won't find it as busy and active as the Atlanta site, but it is certainly no less inviting . Looking forward to seeing pics of your current system.

Re: First tank
Well I went to B and B and I fell in love with a Trigger fish so now I'm having to reevaluate my tank size. I was set on getting the Biocube 29 g but now I'm looking for a used tank in the 55 g range. I think I'm going to go with just the one Triggerfish probably a Clown but maybe another type. I t...

Re: Renewal Time 2013
Sorry I was later than usual. It wasn't stickied and I just forgot about it after it dropped below the first couple posts. The work and dedication is appreciated as always. It's not much, but I do hope it helps and thanks again.

Re: Re-imagined 40g build
Seagrass V2 looks pretty good. If you ever want some various algaes (not Caulerpa) let me know and next time I'm in Mobile you're welcome to some. :) Thanks and I likely will get some algae. Not sure how it will do with the algal scrubber, but it's something I'd like to include in the future. I'm h...
