When the power went out last year I ran the ext cord into the house from the garage...left the garage door cracked for fumes...and just ran my pumps...had tank circulating within 10 min...later I hooked up a desk light, fan, port tv, coffee pot and microwave...all done in 30min....about noon hooked ...

I am going to africa wed for a month (not my first time)...I use a controler (octopus) for my lights, wavemaker and chiller. There are other controlers that are better. I would not get less than 5500 watts. If without power you will want to keep frig going and microwave, fan, at least one light and maybe a coffee pot. Alwasy better to get one little bigger...Wheels are good also but those can be added later....Do not forget lots of gas cans....when a storm comes it...

I think you are overworking this....there is filtration and there is circulation.do not mix the two...just bring the return back oposite of your skim.....then use other pumps for circulation and wave makers....I suggest tunze or seio pumps....on wavemakers or timers...keep it simple....spray bars ec...

I would not choke down these pumps. It causes excess wear. I also use oversize pumps on everything but place a T on the output and send the excess pack to the sump. I place a valve on this return to control how much flow goes to the skimmer or tank, ect. Alos on cutting off the teeth on the returns ...

rock is a big part of your filtration so I personaly would like to see it before I purchase...ck all the shops and hand pick the rock..get the rock with the most holes (I call it magic rock) might be more for pound but better filtration and the rock is lighter for its size so you will need fewer pou...
