Re: WTB phosban reactor
Make one out of PVC, it'll cost you about $8 in parts.

Re: Sea Robbin
Yeah, I was surprised too. Other than the jumping, it's a great fish.

Sea Robbin
A couple of you guys know, I've been keeping a Sea Robbin in my reef for about six months now. I caught him as a .75" baby in the bay while I was catching bait. He's a good reef fish, but soon will be big enough to swallow his neighbors. I'm building a mangrove tank right now that will be his h...

Re: Tank Update
No, if you're doing two-part, you don't want to dose kalk too. You'll likely end up with your dkH pinned at 12 and corals that burn easily.
I uh... never did that...

I have plenty left, just not any that need to go at the moment. I'll post up when I need to clean house again.

Re: Vacation
Two week is too long for most any tank, especially a new reef tank. You need to have a buddy come top it off and buffer (if you buffer) it every couple days. I've left my mature tank for as long as six days before, but that was before I had a trigger, he needs to be fed every other day so he doesn't...

Re: Wow, B&B horror show
Sorry guys, had to purge the negativity. I can't help but notice their prices would be more competitive if they could move more corals before they died.

Wow, B&B horror show
I was at B&B today, and the whole coral wall looked like ass. I wonder what business plan they use to afford letting their entire coral inventory die. I was tempted to start cleaning myself just so nobody else had to see that. It's like a junkyard, I go in there looking for something to salvage,...

That may work, but they aren't social animals, so bring a lot of food because you'll only find a couple every few square meters of sand.

Re: Good news and bad news
Not at all, for Narrarius, there are two small ponds on sand island right now. The second one, the bigger of the two, has snails on the north east corner. They can be tough to spot since they are burrowing snails, not everyone can see them.

Re: Good news and bad news
I still have some in my tank from last year, collected at the same spot. Just a weird time of year I guess.

Good news and bad news
I found Nassarius Vibex on Sand Island for the first time this year, bad news, they don't seem to be acclimating well. Must be too cold, or too...?
As soon as I started the drip they locked up in their shells. We'll see tomorrow if these make it.

I ride my bike a fair bit, be nice to have someone to ride down to the island with this summer to go collecting.

Hmmm....
Microwaves + aragonite may be an interesting combination, let me know how that works. lol
