well, i started my 29 with xenia, star polyps, devils hand, colt and candy cane. It all did great until Walmart (culligan) water crashed my tank. The xenia and polyps died off.. everything else is still going strong.

Looking for an old aquarium

I'm looking for an old junker aquarium to convert in to a sump\fuge. anything less than 40 inches long would work i think. Anyone got one in the garage their husband\wife is complaining about :D

Being in Theodore, you're super close to Progressive. As already mentioned, It's right behind Lowes in Tillman's Corner. Kind of hidden in the middle of those steel buildings. There is also the mail order route for live rock.

He'd be needed to clean the sand. My tank has a good bit of LR in it though, i don't think 2 would have enough room. thanks for the info though. i will look around to see if i can find a cucumber and some snails today.

it's just a 29gal tank. I have thought about getting a goby to stir things up. I'm not sure if it's big enough to keep him fed though. Do they eat flake food as well or only sift sand. it's really the "silt" that worries me. There really isn't any particulate matter thats visible besides t...

There really isn't anything on top. It's a silt like substance within the sand. if you stir up the sand, it creates a little dark dust cloud that settles back down. I'm sure it's because ive neglected it.

Cleaning Substrate

I wanted to get an idea of how often, or better yet how, people clean their substrate? I've got a fine sand that i don't think can be siphon cleaned.

yeah, he did my 29gal no problem. his shops is on hwy 90 in tillmans corner (mobile area). its kind of behind the Lowes in a shopping center. accessible from Lowes or hwy 90. better to call for directions as it's a little hidden.

well, if you want a good place to look through grass beds, go to daphne and hang a right just past the blockbuster. go down to the waters edge. there is a pier there and the whole area is a shallow grass bed. easily accessible from the parking lot. you can also walk down the trail to the left and go...

candy cane coral

i have 2 large and one small group of bright green candy cane coral. i'll attach pic's. These can easily be broken up in to multiple frags. I had a crash about a year ago that killed my shrooms, star polyps and pulsing xenia. I'd love to re-populate with some shrooms, zoa's, and or any other medium ...
